beehive portraits

we're bananas over beehive portraits.

black + white photographs
with colored pencils and teeny shells are just right.

brown paper packages tied up with string...

I made these accordion books
 for my family last year,
filled with photographs of my
children, niece and nephews.
I love love love them,
 they are simple & sweet.

You can find one
 for yourself
and a friend
here in my Etsy shop!

A thousand words

I like to incorporate photographs
in the children's artwork at beehive.
Last week, we made accordion books,
and filled them with shots taken throughout the week.
We thought it would be a good idea to add
colored pencil drawings to the books.

Studio

A few favorite gems taken at the studio last week
 through Samantha's amazing eye.

Thank you Sami,

Us and Them

Take in each moment and
truly watch them,
feel them,
think like them,
smell them,
laugh with them,
listen to them,
learn from them.
Enjoy every spec of them.
And when you think you've had your fill,
do it again.
And again.

Oh ChristmasTree

We will be putting up decorations on our tree tonight.
We've had it in the house for a week
enjoying its simple presence.
Just  ONE whiff of those needles and
I'm in the Christmas spirit.

Toadstools

I've been fascinated by the incredible toadstools I've come across the past few weeks. I'm especially keen on the way they shoot right up through the pine needles, moss, bark and fern in their varied shapes, sizes, colors and textures.
I think I'd like to set up shop under one and call it a day.
