watercolor + color pencil

Two of my favorite mediums,
tried and true over and over.
Always fresh and always vibrant,
 I love the combination.
We paint lots of small watercolors at beehive.

After mounting them,
we played with the pencil and a little sharpie marker.

paper weaving

ALL spring classes at beehive tried their hands at paper weaving.
It's tricky, but once you get the hang of it...  oooooo la la!
A beautiful collection of color and focus.
YAY beehive kids!

PASTE PAINT PAPERS

PASTE PAINT is one of my favorite mediums.  It's all about experimenting with lots of pots of colors, color blending, lines, patterns and texture.

Using a blender we whipped up several colors using different pigments of tempera and acrylic. We added just a smidge of pigment so that the paste paint has some transparency. If you want a more opaque look, add more pigment.
There are many recipes out there for paste paint, the one we used I found here.

In a previous class, each child had painted several sheets of paper with tempera,
for the background color.

Add a small dollop of paste paint to painted paper and brush evenly. We dragged plastic combs across the surface to create color patterns and cool line formations.

Make sure everyone has several sheets of papers to experiment with,
it's THAT much fun!
